FindLaw: Nigerian State Says Miss World Reporter Should Die
"What we are saying is that the Holy Koran has clearly stated that whoever insults the Prophet of Islam, Mohammad, should be killed," Zamfara State Commissioner for Information Umar Dangaladima Magaji told Reuters.
A vivid reminder that freedom of speech is not a purely abstract concept.
One suspects that the Prophet's reputation does not need Mr. Magaji to defend it. This pronouncement, however, demonstrates once again that there is no rule of law in Nigeria worthy of the name.
