Search engines - old ideas anew
Interesting to see 2 new search engines (from Amazon and Yahoo) using some of the same concepts I helped to build in a medical knowledge search engine called Skolar MD 4 years ago (since purchased by Wolters Kluwer).  Idea was to allow the user to save the URL's of the search results they visited to gain medical knowledge.  Skolar MD would actually use the saved links as evidence of learning and granted AMA education credits to the doctors for their web surfing time.  We even had a Notebook feature that let you categorize and anotate the saved links.

From Amazon: http://a9.com (very similar to Skolar MD in that it works as an integrated search tool, i.e. showing results from several types of resources at the same time)

From Yahoo: http://next.yahoo.com/ (lets you save search results that mattered to you and lets you categorize them)
