Will the Hammer fall?
Rumors are loose that the AMD presentation this morning at Comdex will be earth "shattering". At 9am Pacific, AMD's Hector Ruiz is to announce a new licensee. The rumor is that it will be Apple! If so it would mean that Apple is moving beyond PPC in an attempt to deal with the performance issue. I'm not holding my breath, but it would be a huge move if it comes to pass. And no, it does not mean OS X on PeeCees, it means OS X on 64bit Hammer based motherboards. This announcement could also be for a joint wireless technology, Hypertransport, AMD fabing PPC chips, or any of a number of things. After all, 'earth shattering' in marketing-speak could mean nearly anything...mj
