A picture named klimt.jpg. . . strange how when first exposed to the work of Klimt in the Viennese palace . . . there was an original sense of wonder which later turned into rejection (like too much sugar) . . . now the work seems to assault me . . . a memory zone . . . time in Vienna was a life shaping source . . . nostalgia . . .

> String, Cloth, Twigs and Character

" It is a rare theater artist who reminds you of no one else, whose work sounds its own note on the tuning fork of your theatergoing experience. Rezo Gabriadze, the Georgian puppeteer (that's the republic of Georgia in the former Soviet Union) is one such, and his show, "Autumn of My Springtime," closed the Lincoln Center Festival this weekend with the beautiful, elliptical melancholy that is his signature."

> Pierre Levy on dynamic ideography

"In his book (The dynamic ideography) Pierre Levy postulates the existence of a new language that would go beyond the distinction between text and image to provide a dynamic representation of thought models. This new language would radically alter the role of the creator who would work on interfaces, transforming the "spectator" into a creative actor. A second book entitled "Les arbres de connaissances" (Trees of Knowledge), co-authored with Michel Authier, develops an application of dynamic ideography in the field of forms of knowledge."

" ... neither a watcher nor a dreamer ... does not reflect life, but doesn't escape or withdraw either: swallows it. And the imagination won't stop it's swallowed everything ... to a world where nothing is outside the human imaginaion. - Northrop Frye.

A picture named manray.gifThoughts, wrote Nietzsche, are shadows of our feelings: always darker, emptier, and simpler than these. And the written word, it strikes me, is but a shadow of our thoughts.

Proust wrote: "The only true voyage of discovery, the only really rejuvenating experience would not be to visit strange lands, but to possess other eyes, to see the universe through the eyes of another, of a hundred others, to see the hundred universes that each of them sees."

"In everyday life 'if' is an evasion, in the theatre 'if' is the truth. In everyday life 'if' is a fiction, in the theatre 'if' is an experiment." Peter Brook -- The Empty Space
