Joan Littlewood

Joan Littlewood, British Theater Pioneer, Dies at 87. Joan Littlewood was one of the most important and original figures responsible for the regeneration of the British theater in the 1950's and 60's. Ms. Littlewood's Theater Workshop, based in a shabby old playhouse in a poor section of East London, won an international reputation with seasons of offbeat work that she staged by herself.
