I know what the best justification is for continuing this weblog—it is fantastic exercise for my writing faculties. One weblog post can unclog the messiest verbal arteries.

So far Radio 8, the software package for building this weblog, is working far better in Mac OS X than it did in Mac OS 9.
Of course, I was using 9 on the the elderly Mac clone and not this wonderful new iMac. But I suspect that Radio works fine on it because Radio is essentially a client-and-server application and X is perfect for that kind of thing, being a flavour of Unix, the ultimate server operating system.

I have got to get into the habit of adding posts during lulls in other work during the day. I used to have a routine, when working from my office at home, of doing all the posts in the morning as well as reading a few news sites and weblogs. But that used to eat up too much time, and now there is even less time to do that.
Unless, of course, I work out some way of making these posts do more work than being merely a vanity exercise.

Anytime you do a massive set of software installations on a new production machine it takes a while until the computer is fully usable. The ideal is to have your old machine working alongside your new one so you do not lose any functionality.
Unfortunately, I did not have that option this time—the old Mac clone had to go back home again to make room on this desk. The new computer is almost working well, however. Just a handful of installations and updates, a big cleanup tonight and tomorrow with DiskWarrior, Norton Utilities and TechTool Pro, and it will be humming along nicely. It is actually doing pretty well just now, but that was mainly because I did a lot of work cleaning it up over the weekend.
