Dreamweaver UltraDev 4: The Complete Reference was such a huge labour of love and work that co-authors Tom Muck and Ray West fully deserved a good long holiday.
Instead they went to work on this companion to their bestseller, its subject that of harnessing Dreamweaver and UltraDev’s considerable extensibility.
I am no programmer and barely even a JavaScripter, although I am getting to grips with Flash ActionScript now, so I my opinion on a book written for programmers by programmers is not worth much. But I can tell you that the authors’ writing made sense and was clear and easy to read. There are plenty of code listings, explanatory tables, and more than enough screenshots, as well as exercises that look well worth doing. The content reflects the fact that Muck and West are two of the most experienced extensions developers out there, with many years’ of writing tutorials between them.
Building Dreamweaver 4 & Dreamweaver UltraDev 4 Extensions is possibly the only book on the subject currently available, and definitely worth buying if you are contemplating becoming a Dreamweaver and UltraDev extensions builder.
