Dave mentioned the Trademark Blog, who linked to a list of the oldest family firms on the Family Business magazine site. The list makes interesting reading. Number 34 is James Lock & Co, hatters, founded 1642. Now I know where to go if I need a new leather flying helmet, complete with goggles.
