The team
Lakshmi is away visiting family in India for two weeks. This makes things difficult for me, as she hosts a significant proportion of the more productive parts of my brain. We have worked so closely together for so long that we sometimes finish each other's sentences, which can be disconcerting, especially when we are in completely different locations.
As WH Auden so nearly wrote: She is my East, my West, my North, my South, My kick in the balls and my slap in the mouth.
Hurry back Lakshmi.
The good news is that I still have Jo, who has spurned a £20 per minute career in pole-dancing to work in IT. (She has a FOAF who dances at Stringfellows and makes a fortune. Jo could do it if she turned her mind to it, but she prefers to make her money from more cerebral pursuits). Jo is smart, has a wonderful enthusiasm for life, boundless energy, amazing looks, and a boyfriend. So nearly perfect.
I don't yet have a picture of Jo that does her justice, though she does appear in my clubbing pictures on ON.
Denis, our team leader, should be no stranger to those who have read through my blog on Outwardly Normal. Denis is a gifted applications developer, founder of FOLDOC, inventor of the webring, Science Fiction fan, and all-round lovely bloke. He keeps us amused with his infinitely slow and patient phone conversations with his small children about how they shouldn't try to kill each other because "it's rude".
Paul is a single-minded coding machine (but he needs to be - manpower is short and deadlines are tight). Paul is married with two lovely children, and enjoys golf and... er, that's all I know. Oh yes, his wife had laser treatment on both eyes recently and can now read a newspaper at 400 yards.
You can see a photograph of Denis and Paul in their natural habitat here.
