The Trademark Blog is talking about batteries (strictly cells, but who's counting) today.
I don't know if this is a worldwide thing, but in the UK it's really common to see people selling "look-like Duracell AAs but aren't" cells at ridiculously low prices. The cells have the "copper-coloured top" and similar packaging, but are called "Powercell". The packaging has the Duracell brand colours, but are plastic blister-packs, unlike Duracell's cardboard packs.
How widespread is this? Is there some factory in Asia churning out millions of these hooky batteries, or is it just a UK thing?
Why am I bothered? These guys are so ubiquitous that they have faded into the background noise of my daily travel (along with the plastic cigarette-lighter people), but it's uncommon to see blatant fakes (well, passing-off type dodgy items) being sold openly on the streets of London.
