National Poetry Day
For National Poetry Day today, Nick invites participation in a literary blogburst on the Poetry Society's chosen theme for this year, Britain. [greenfairydotcom]
Here's one of mine, from the poetry page on Outwardly Normal. Like most poems, it's probably best read aloud.
Ant Worlds
I treated you with grace and then I saw you standing on your face and I knew That you Were no ordinary bag of flesh and I could play with you.
I took you to the park and in the dark we rolled upon the grass and found between the blades ant worlds and beetle arcades.
We climbed a small mountain and bathed In the fountain of youth, Or so we thought Until, chasing ourselves, we came to see what we had taught.
You said your prayers and I lit a candle Dark headlines and pictures were taken Your conscience was wakened And in the surf we were baptised And set ourselves alight And said goodnight.
