Uncharacteristic sex toy related post
Green Fairy's latest post reminded me of an idea I had some time ago for a sex toy. Basically it consists of a small gyroscope sealed (in a vacuum) in a sphere. The outside would probably need to be slightly textured in some way.

You would bring it up to speed, insert it in an appropriate orifice, and go for a walk. A twisty-turny walk.

Post-Google update: Hmmm. Looks like someone may have got there first. All they need is a slight redesign, making it a bit smaller and fully enclosed, and they're in business. Imagine the pelvic floor muscles a person could develop with one of these (wmv file).

Disclaimer: This site does not endorse the insertion of any object into anything whatsoever. In fact, I'm putting my hands over my ears and going "naa nee naa naa" at the very thought of it.

Virtual Tour of the Pitt Rivers Museum [Mildly Diverting]
It takes a while before you get the full hi-res images, but worth it. This is one of the great old fashioned ethnographic museums of the world.

Another Wikipedia article: Motif of harmful sensation

I was looking at Wikipedia The Unusual Articles [linkfilter.net - fresh links] when I saw the article on Capgras delusion.

I quote: The Capgras delusion or Capgras' syndrome is a rare disorder in which a person holds a delusional belief that an acquaintance, usually a close family member or spouse has been replaced by an identical looking imposter.

I actually suffered from this for a short time while when I was a kid. Unusually, it was my dog which had been replaced by an identical replica. It passed pretty quickly, but it was decidedly freaky while it lasted.

Another link on the page has this gem:
The photic sneeze reflex is considered a risk factor to combat pilots: people suffering from photic sneeze reflex may not fly combat aircraft.

The Wilhelm scream article has a link to Film Sound Cliches, which took me to DAVELAB.COM's guide to sound effects.

It's pages like this that have made the last two years of my life evaporate with hardly a trace remaining.

Damn you, Berners-Lee! Damn you all to hell!

Great links though.
