Microsoft can afford to publish the source code for Palladium core security modules because:

1. Its security will be based on hardware and thus the revelation of source code won't compromise it and
2. It will be patented (as DRM OS) anyway.

Before online community rumour-mill starts spinning around and spitting out all speculations possible, it is worth mentioning that the system:

• won't be free nor open source and
• it will still provide lock-in necessary to produce money Microsoft expects and need
