| Security Weblog Security Sales Inhibitor, Not Adoption Roadblock John Hagel thinks that that flexible ("loosely coupled") business processes are one of the most promising applications of Web services but that they are still far cry for many. This reinforces my argument that it is not security/identity that is a major roadblock for adpotion of web services. My guess is that the "adoption roadblock" in fact means "sales roadblock". Conservative buyers, who represent the desireable "star" and "cash-cow quadrants in BCG matrix, need to demonstrate due diligence (including security) in their purchase decisions. Many RFPs I see nowadays do have a mandatory security section that, when not covered sufficiently, could directly lead to no-buy decision. And a half dozen of unrelated XML security standards, most in version 0.3-0.9, doesn't make for a convincing security chapter in vendors proposal... 9:57:36 PM
