Shift work in the spotlight: Story Corollary Actually it seems to me that shift work is an excellent example of something for which corporations are not paying the true cost, and leaving society to foot the bill. The Billionaire Boy's Club has a quote from Bill Gates. I think its time to stop calling them "governments" and come up with a new name - "Marketing Departments" springs to mind. A Paul Krugman quote comes to mind - "In any case, by early 1993 political and economic stresses had made the solemnity of Maastricht seem almost comic. Suggests to me that this was, in fact, the primary goal of Allen Shaheen - to get another job after aD disappeared. It was an agency problem . Another rumor says that Philip Greenspun got $5 million when he was pushed out. From visionary to scumbag in a few short years. I sort of clued in when Eve Andersson referred to "Philip and Alex's Guide to Web Publishing" as marketing. I suppose so, but why believe any of it? At this point one has to assume that anything Mr. Greenspun writes is about as insightful as an Enron financial statement. http://philip.greenspun.com/careers/ makes for good reading now that he's a professor at MIT.
