They want to lure consumers away from Microsoft, I thought. But this article suggests they may really be after corporate customers, and that does make sense. They could sell a corporate customer all of the functionality they would need. The second point is about the AOL buying Red Hat thing. I certainly understand what the thinking must be. If AOL really could convince customers to use their (newly) proprietary OS to access their network they could eliminate MS altogether. But, of course, there would be a number of *other* applications users would want to run, such as Office, and they may not have a good experience without Windows. Of couse, I'm a Mac person, so I *know* you can have a good experience without Windows :) comment ()  11:50:45 AM  #   Thinking about going to the Getty tomorrow. [mac.scripting.com]: I might give this a swirl. There are Emacs people and vi people. I consider myself to be a vi person. My daughter is now a black belt, so she can't go to the meetings anymore. She's in the Master's club, for people trying to become masters. Actually, it may have updated itself overnight. My problem is that I want my Radio to be remote, so I can get to it from anywhere. So I have it running on a desktop Mac (running OS X) at work. The black holes we have discovered would actually be gravstars, according to these guys. If this turns out to be right then Einstein would be proven correct again.
