By the way, too much wine for her is about 1/2 a glass. I really envy her. Far less expensive that way.

My wife is red. She had too much wine. I envy her.

Planning to go to La Brea tar pits tomorrow. I wonder if we will really go. Tell you when we get back. I've never been and neither have the kids. Should be interesting.

Warnings to Red Hat about AOL Buyout [Slashdot]: I guess when I heard about AOL trying to acquire Red Hat, I thought about consumers. They want to lure consumers away from Microsoft, I thought. But this article suggests they may really be after corporate customers, and that does make sense. They could sell a corporate customer all of the functionality they would need. It might work.

Reliving the Day [Dan Gillmor's eJournal]: I want to comment on something here, but not the main story. The second point is about the AOL buying Red Hat thing. I certainly understand what the thinking must be. If AOL really could convince customers to use their (newly) proprietary OS to access their network they could eliminate MS altogether. But, of course, there would be a number of *other* applications users would want to run, such as Office, and they may not have a good experience without Windows. Of couse, I'm a Mac person, so I *know* you can have a good experience without Windows :)

Thinking about going to the Getty tomorrow. I've never been and it should be cool. I wonder if the kids would like it. They always surprise me in that things I think they'll like they don't, and the other way around, of course.

Mac OS X Hints: Install and use an Aqua Emacs editor. [mac.scripting.com]: I might give this a swirl. There are Emacs people and vi people. I consider myself to be a vi person. But I did use Emacs way back when I was doing Lisp as an undergraduate.

Trying to decide what to do today. Black Belt club meeting, so we have to work around that. My daughter is now a black belt, so she can't go to the meetings anymore. She's in the Master's club, for people trying to become masters. It'll take about 9 years, which is about twice as long as takes to become a black belt.

Baba is really gone, but my wife and I swear that we both heard his voice. A shared hallucination?

AOL in Negotiations to Buy Red Hat? [Slashdot]: I don't know. It seems kinda scary to me. I think I like the idea of an independent Red Hat.

With this fix, Mac OS X users can try my crazy tutorials.   [Scripting News]: I need to try this once I've updated my Radio at work. Actually, it may have updated itself overnight. My problem is that I want my Radio to be remote, so I can get to it from anywhere. So I have it running on a desktop Mac (running OS X) at work. I also have Radio installed on my TiBook, but it isn't up-to-date with my remote version.

Black Holes Disputed [Slashdot]: Einstein didn't think black holes could be possible and if these guys are right then they aren't. The black holes we have discovered would actually be gravstars, according to these guys. If this turns out to be right then Einstein would be proven correct again. That Einstein guy was a genius.
