If you are trying to read between the lines, don't bother. There's nothing there but white space. ['If'...]

burningbird's reply to Dvorak's why we blog piece:
Sharing? That's a good possibility. However, why not try just plain old fun. It's fun to talk to the threaded void and have it talk back. Fun fun fun fun fun!

F-Script looks like an interesting scripting environment for Mac OS X. It claims to be SmallTalk-like. Everything is an object that can receive messages. And you can do UI stuff like create an window (which is an object, of course) and show it by sending it the right messages.

Hire me! I helped spread the meme of Google Instant Messaging! I am Orange! [burningbird]

One of the Mac news sites I mentioned in the previous post is Mac Minute. A very good site well worth a look. They have many stories I don't see on any of the other sites. And they update often.

Mac OS Rumors has been updating far more frequently in the last couple of days. I think they are trying to transition a bit from just a rumors site to a news/rumors site. If they want viewers, they need to update more frequently than the once-every-two-weeks they were averaging before. But, on the other hand, there are lots of news sites. What makes them worth visiting?

Up to 10 docks!: But do I want 10 docks? Or even more than one? Spring-loaded folders, which should come in 10.2, will probably be the better way to go.

wxPython is a cross-platform GUI toolkit for Python. It already runs on Windows and Linux/GTK and a port to the Macintosh is in progress. [Kevin Altis' Radio Weblog]
Cool. I can't wait to try it.

Too bad all my favorite weblogging people are scattered to the winds of the world -- I'd like to work with you. Most interesting group of people I've "met" in a long time. [Burningbird]
I thought this was what's cool about the 'net. Distributed relationships. But I think I know what Burningbird is talking about. Communicating through the internet (weblogs or whatever) seems slower and (dare I say) less personal than face-to-face. Sometimes we just want to all talk at the same time.

My internet connection got really slow last night. It seems better now. I wonder if Road Runner had to reboot some server?

Still, with the few hobbyist exceptions, Blogs are mostly personal diaries. Here's where the sociology comes in. Why, exactly, do people want to have other people read these ramblings? Many are incriminating! Ask a Web log addict why he or she does it and you'll get a range of answers that tend towards the "because it's easy" or "because it's fun!" bromides. I think there are deeper reasons. [John C. Dvorak]
I also wonder why people are compelled to put personal information where everybody can see it. But I don't think that's true of all bloggers. I have a desire to put everything in my weblog. But I can't. I live with other people (my family) and it wouldn't be fair to them. Does that mean I'm violating one of Dave's rules of integrity?
