Another segment we watched was about an eating competition amoung three women. These weren't professional eaters. They were just amateurs. You laugh. But eating competitions are quite a big deal in Japan. And the really big eaters are truly amazing. They aren't fat at all. In fact, some of them are quite thin. But they can eat an enormous amount of food in one sitting. One of the best entered a hot dog eating contest in the US and he was this thin Japanese guy surrounded by all these large Americans. But he ate so much more than any of the others that in the end the rest of the competitors could only stand and watch him in awe.

Scientists have studies the stomachs of these "big eaters" and they are unusually large. Not only are they large, but they can grow to a much larger size than a normal stomach.

Apparently there are a lot of cats in Rome. There was a segment about it on the Japanese news program my wife watches. Rome sounds like my kind of place.

As a way of saying thanks to Radio 8 early adopters, we've increased the per-user allocation on the community server from 10MB to 20MB. That should give everyone some breathing room. And thanks from everyone at UserLand to the incredible Radio 8 community. What an inspiration!  [Scripting News]

Cool. Is that everybody who has registered up to this point or only those who registered in the first few days? I don't see any change in my "cloud status" at the right. I'm hoping I get another 10M. Not that I'm close to filling up my first 10M yet. But at this rate it will take less than 10 months for me to fill it up. I'm hoping the old stuff just rolls off the end.

Jonathon Delacour shows us that weblogs are a form of literature.

AIB rogue trader 'not a fugitive'. A lawyer for John Rusnak, the trader at the centre of a suspected $750m fraud at Irish bank AIB's US subsidiary, says his client is not on the run. [BBC News: world]

Then where the heck is he?

More on Dvorak: This time from Doc Searls:

In respect to John Dvorak, I suggest we're addicted to talking as well as blogging. And that the reticent among us [~] those for whom the entirety of life is something like a Quaker meeting, where you don't talk unless you can improve on the silence [~] aren't likely to blog. Which is too bad, because we'd probably like to know what they're not saying.

I always regarded myself as somewhat reticent. Now I discover there's a lot I haven't been saying -- though not that I'm necessarily improving on the silence.
[Jonathon Delacour Unplugged]

I'm quoting a quote. Pretty good. But I've been posting on this topic a bit, so I thought it was interesting. I definitely have a great deal that I don't say. And for a lot of reasons. But I think the biggest reason is that I live with other people. When I post, everybody in my house posts :)

Apple has a forum where you can talk about stuff. Cool. For example, on about two occasions I've had my G4 PowerBook crash on sleep. Turns out I'm not alone.

Wow. One of my favorite weblogs has linked to my weblog. Thanks. And I see that Garth, the author, has a new referer tracking tool that I'll have to check out. Thanks.
