Tony Collen: "So I've sold you on CSS, right?" No.[Scripting News]

That's too bad. I'm sold.

Thank you Roy and H.G. Mentioning the Ice Dream is having a similar effect (albeit only 10% as effective) as Scottish Lass's canny pop idols ruse. I wonder if should add "Roy and H.G.'s The Ice Dream" formatted as a Heading 1 at the top of the page. [Jonathon Delacour]

I tried this experiment as well. I went to Google Zeitgeist and one of their up-and-coming searches to link to my weblog. Nobody every came, though.

David Brown: Radio as a Python IDE. “The Python Tool allows Radio UserLand to be used as a Python IDE. Radio’s integrated outliner turns out to be a wonderful tool for Python editing, and the Tool provides an efficient way to write, debug, and deploy Python code.” [mac.scripting.com]

This is really cool. I gotta get it and try it out. But there is one problem for me. My Radio runs remotely. And I'm not quite sure how easily I can run a local copy of Radio that doesn't screw with my the cloud in bad ways. Probably just turning off upstreaming will fix that problem.

I gotta say that this CSS stuff is really cool. I like the fact that the content is so simple and all of the style/format info is separated from it. I'm making all the changes up in the style section while the content remains untouched below.

I think I'm about to jump on the CSS bandwagon. I'm working on a new site design with a 3-column template I got from Erik Costello. But I think three columns is too much. I want the design to be as simple as possible and I think two columns would look better. Three columns leaves the center column very scrunched. I've got an example of what I'm working on here. The content is the same as what it came with, so most all of the links are broken.

It worked pretty well, except apostrophe is being turned into an entity. Not sure what causes that or if there is anything I can do about it.

I'm not sure I can get into the habit of using RadioService, but I'm going to try. This allows me to edit in, say, TextEdit and then post directly from there. I can even spell check. Tags specifying bold or italic should work as well, right?

SourceForge Terms of Service Change, Users Unhappy [Slashdot]: This probably marks the beginning of the end of SourceForge, which is too bad. But it is hard to see how they can continue as a viable business.

I may have hit upon a new identity for this weblog: "transcendental petroglyhps". Petroglyphs are, of course, paintings or carvings on rocks and usually identified with prehistoric people. The best definition of "transcendental" comes from a good friend of mine when asked by his high-school English teacher: "across the teeth". If you break the word down into its parts, you'll see that that is exactly what it means.

Googie Drives look really cool. Do they get power through FireWire? I have a La Cie PocketDrive and that's the way it works. If you plug in USB then you've also got to plug in power. But if you plug in FireWire, then it gets its power through the FireWire. Very cool. But these Googie drives look better than my PocketDrive. And is USB2 really that fast? Wow.

I've got to get to work. I'm sitting here at home and it's already 8:00. By the time I get to work it will be almost 9:00. That's no good.

SnorComments2 is a possible comments system I might be able to add to my weblog. I'd also like to add a search engine. I'll never be able to find anything in all of this mess.

Nope. Somebody else has already thought of brain droppings.

I've got to think of a good tag line for this weblog. "boring junk about me" just doesn't quite do it. I'm spent some time thinking of one, but haven't yet. I've considered the obvious "braindump", which I'm sure somebody else has taken. How about "brain droppings"?

...Though it may only be available for Mac OS X -- there seems to be a bit of that happening... [Jonathon Delacour]

I've noticed that to. All I can say is "ha". It's about time

Something is fishy in Salt Lake City.

I stand corrected. Matthew Thomas has lost patience with my CSS saga... [Jonathon Delacour]

Boy, do I disagree with Matthew Thomas. I've been reading Jonathon's saga with great interest. And I think anything is fair game for a weblog. If you can't write about what's going on in your head, what can you write about?
