My bike is a 2002 Trek 4500. I specifically wanted to get the 2002 over the 2001 as the 2002 has Rock Shox's Judy TT front suspension and the 2001 has a Jett front suspension. Many of the riders who reviewed the 2001 4500 at mtbr.com said that the first thing they did was replace the Jett shocks with Judy's.

Of especial disappointment to me is the Times' piece asking whether blogging is just another fad, not because I'm afraid of the answer but because I think the question is so meaningless. [megnut.com]
Didn't "journalists" consider the Internet to be a fad. And the web was also considered a fad. Heck, I bet many still think the web will soon fade away. I think weblogs are in an early stage. The web was in this stage in the early-to-middle 90's. There weren't thay many web pages and certainly very few really slick ones. I know many (such as Dave) will say that people have been weblogging for years. I actually agree. In an earlier post I suggested that Sei Shonagon was an early Japanese Blogger and she lived about a thousand years ago. But weblogging hadn't yet taken off like it is taking off now. Which is why mainstream journalists have started to take notice. Maybe they feel threatened :)

I did a little self photo of myself , which isn't very good but at least it won't break your monitor. Sorry -- no glamorous babe. No hot chick. Just me. [Burningbird]
Looks very good to me. Thanks. I wish I had the courage to put my face on the web. I've never felt comfortable doing that. I'll think about it though. Maybe it would be good for me.

HTTP's Days Numbered [Slashdot]: Microsoft wants to kill HTTP? Well, they don't own it so they don't like it. But killing it might be hard. They might end up killing themselves in the process :)

Stepwise: HTMLEditorX “is a Mac OS X adaptation of the HTMLEditor tutorial series that ran on Stepwise during 1998.” [mac.scripting.com]
This looks kinda cool. I remember doing NeXTStep programming in the earlie 90's on my NeXT. It was so cool. That was actually before I'd ever programmed a Mac's GUI. When I started working on a Mac I was surprised at how difficult it was. I had to worry about stuff I never had to worry about on the NeXT. Just getting my event loop right was a challenge. But after working on the Mac for several years I came to the conclusion that the Mac as a whole is a better experience for a developer. The development tools themselves weren't as good, but computing platform was superior.
Where does that leave Mac OS X? I love it. I think it hangs together better than the NeXT but it still has a ways to go before it's as consistent as the classic Mac OS. I'm more than happy to give up classic, though, in return for memory protection and preemptive multitasking. And I like that underneath Mac OS X is UNIX. I can use all the great UNIX stuff that's been written over the years.

I really like this one spam I get: "Does your computer have pornography? FREE check." What happens if they find it? Do they remove it? Or do they give me some if I don't have any?
