I've decided that I need to go to bed earlier. Part of the problem is that I can't stop messing with my computer. So I've decided on a new rule: No computer after 10pm. It's gonna be hard. But seeing as how it is now after 10pm, I must turn the computer off and watch television.

I'd seen a lot of links to RageBoy. But I'd never followed any of them. Until today. Hysterical. I'm going to have to put it on my blogrolls. And subscribe, if I can.

Register: Back in the Bloghouse. Great story. [Scripting News]
Very interesting read. A lot of bloggers seem to think of writing blogs as journalism. And some really are. Clearly Scripting News falls into that category. They are the sites that I read every day for my own news. But I don't keep a weblog to be a journalist. I'm doing it for myself. And sometimes I get to carry on a conversation with another blogger. But for the most part it is a personal thing. I'm trying to record my life so that I can go back and remember what I was doing. It is, in a way, my on-line memory. Or braindump.

I just blew away all the changes I'd made to my desktop template and went back to the "woodlands" theme. I've still got the changes saved off to another file. Maybe I'll go back to it someday. But I bet I can spend the time better doing other things.

My wife suggests that I just leave my theme as the "woodland" theme and I think she may have a point. It is a nice theme. Not overpowering. I could spend a lot of time (and already have) and not really come up with anything better. That time could be spent doing something else. Like getting my Lua plugin for REALbasic out.

I don't know how he could have expressed all that in a 600-word piece, this is why I think pros like Markoff should also have weblogs, where they track the people and subjects they care about on a daily basis, so their readers, if they want to know more, have a way to get it. Behind every profile should be a professionally maintained dossier, so that readers with minds have a way to get and stay informed. [Scripting News]
Now I get why we need weblogs. Back before the web (before the net, really) the people we worked with were close enough to talk to face-to-face. But the cool thing about the net is that we can now work with people all over the world. We may never meet those people face-to-face. We may never talk to them at all. So we don't really get a chance to see what's going on in their brains. But if we all keep weblogs then we can read each other and find out what we are all thinking.

I'm goofing around with the look of my site. I can change just the desktop template and test it without messing up my real home page. Once I've gotten it the way I want it I'll need to pour my home page template into it. I'm not sure if the day and item templates will match, so those may need to be modified as well.

Wow. Want to jump-start your place on the referers list? Change the name of your weblog. That's what I did. Actually, all I did was move the name to the description and the description to the name. So I guess I look like somebody else. Except it's the same stupid content :) Oh well.
I had been in the 70's and 60's on the referers list before my trip to Joshua Tree. But while I was gone I didn't post for three days and when I got back I found that I had dropped off the referers list and I haven't been back on. Until today.

I just started the last four posts with "I just". Is that a record?

I just changed my theme to the "woodlands" theme. This is the first step on the road to building my own theme. The woodlands theme is very close to what I want to do. I just need to hack it until it looks like what I want. The next thing I'm planning to do is change the name and discription. Actually, I just plan to switch them so that the name will be transcendental petroglyphs and the description will be will leshner's radio weblog.

I just put a link to my weblog on my amianduri page. And I updated the links on my Stella pages that point to Lua. They had asked me to do that about a year ago when they moved to their new online home. But I never did it. Just too lazy, once again :(

I just got called to task on the REALbasic mailing list. I have a RB plugin for Lua. With that plugin you can run Lua scripts in an RB app. That's what I use Stella. Off the list I've slipped the plugin to a few people and now one of those people has mentioned on the list that I have the plugin and will release it when I fix a few bugs, which is true. But now I really need to do it sooner rather than later. I guess I better get off my lazy butt and get to work on it.
