where all dead fishies go
It turns out my son was a bit more concerned about the dead fish than I though. After he went to school I ... disposed of the fish. Let's just say that he no longer swims with the fishes. In fact, where he's swimming I don't want to go. When my son got home he asked about fishy and I just couldn't lie to him (maybe I should have). Dang. First I killed the fish and then I didn't have a proper funeral.

just call me Petro
Poor Petro. He's sick today and he killed his child's fish. Don't worry, dear, dear boy. I'm sure the little fishy went to fishy heaven. And I'm sending you a cool and comforting touch for your fevered brow.
I like Petro. And thanks for the touch. It has made me feel better.

lovesick
Actually, I think I'm lovesick. Is that corny? Is that a word? I'm not doing too well with my wife gone and all. We've done this before and I don't remember taking it so hard. But this time it seems different somehow. Maybe it's the fever talking? Mabe it's causing the fever?

I'm sick
I woke up feeling poorly. I thought it was lack of sleep. I didn't have a temperature or anything. But I've continued to feel crappy all day. So I decided to take my temp just to see. 100. So I'm just sick. Aha. That I understand.

fishy died
Our fishy died. I felt pretty bad. It was just a little goldfish my son brought home from school. Each student got one. I was trying my best to take care of him. Yesterday I cleaned his bowl as it had gotten quite cloudy. I wonder if that killed him. I kept half of the old water and added half new water. Just like I was told.
My son's reaction: "Well, he was just a bottom-feeder."

weblogs & instant outlining
The problem I see with instant outlining is that it isn't instant messaging in the sense that, say, AOL Instant Messaging or email is. I can't really send a message to Dave. He'd have to be subscribed to my outline before he'd even see my "messages". But with email I can send an email to Dave. He'd probably throw it away, of course. That's not a slam at Dave. He probably gets so much email every day that he has to decide what to look at and what to throw away. But I'd still know that he had to deal with it one way or another. But with IO, as with weblogs, it can be hard to become part of the community. Once you do, though, your in.

mailing lists and weblogs
Mail lists stop when someone posts a flame or a challenge from left field. Weblogs keep on truckin.
Exactly. Mailing lists have their uses though. It is much easier to have an online discussion with a mailing lists. But weblog discussions usually have more and better information in them.

kissing cousins
An unrelated couple has about a 3 percent to 4 percent risk of having a child with such problems. But for close cousins who are married, that risk jumps only 1.7 percent to 2.8 percent, the study said.
This has got to be backwards, right? How do you jump 1.7 percent from 3 to 4 percent to 2.8 percent?
