  • go read what DEBKA says today about the US hopes for new alignment forming in the Arab-Muslim world: "a pro-American bloc comprising Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait and possibly Bahrain and Qatar, that will range itself against the anti-US bloc of Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the Palestinians and possibly Egypt, which is vacillating at the moment. Syria would be assigned a key role."

Syria's outrageous behavoir at the UN Security Council meeting today shows why it's pie in the sky

  • for the astrology buffs -- isn't it interesting to hear that Rush gets his ears working again on the day that Mecury goes retrograde

AstroWeek by Roberto Jan 17-23, 2002

Mercury goes into retrograde on Friday for 3 weeks. Be sure to double check contracts and purchases to prevent the need to re-negotiate or return something. Some Mercury item, perhaps an intellectual understanding or business agreement, that you had taken over the last several weeks will need to be re-worked a bit over the next few weeks. A retrograde transit indicates the need to re-visit the territory recently covered. What house in your chart is Capricorn? That will give a clue as to the flavor of the re-run. Saturn and Jupiter are also in retrograde now, indicating a more comprehensive long term plan for your life is being worked on at a deep level as well as the surface details. Travel arrangements should be given extra care and please allow room for delays. Communications may be unreliable, so it is wise to check that important messages and instructions are fully received and understood, even at the risk of appearing redundant or overcautious. Venus and the Sun are also in Capricorn, both moving forward in tandem, meaning that Venus remains combust for about a month more. Women or relationship issues may remain under some strain during the Venus combust period.
