    6:42:08 PM

  • and one more thing -- the concern over the treatment of the suspects at the prison camp in Cuba is mostly a crock of self-serving spin out of talking heads with constituencies -- in our ever-humble opinion

please always remember this about us -- we don't know anything

and either do you by the way

you tell us -- the "suspects" vowed they would try to kill an American guard

now as to their legal "status" -- well Mr. Ashcroft and the US Government are skating on thin ice there and deserve to be challenged

  • Sad em is up to his old tricks probably

do you read about him and his son in Vanity Fair last week?

    yikes-o-matic

  • War Still Brewing Over Kashmir. A top-level U.S. mission to quell the threat of war over Kashmir has come and gone, leaving little changed in this rough-and-tumble frontier capital, where Pakistani militants vow to continue their armed struggle against India. [AP]

  • Thousands demand Arafat's release. Angry protests erupt in the Palestinian territories as Israel's prime minister freely admits putting Yasser Arafat under virtual house arrest. [BBC]

  • Powell: China Never Mentioned Airline. The Chinese have not said anything to Colin Powell about bugging devices found three months ago on their president's new private jetliner, the secretary of state said Sunday. [AP]

  • More US Troops Arrive in Philippines. U.S. military cargo planes brought more troops and equipment to the southern Philippines on Sunday amid growing protests against American involvement in the government's efforts to quash Muslim guerrillas. [AP]

  • when oh when is Microsoft going to fix their lousy Internet Explorer browser for OS X -- it is the only app that has ever crashed in X and it does it at least once a day

4:58:35 PM

  • Sarg is right on about the Philippines -- we've been there -- it's beautiful and the people are wonderful

  • DEBKA: "The prize for which Osama bin Laden launched al Qaeda and his terror campaign in 1990 is now within his reach: the eviction of US forces from sacred Saudi soil."

4:49:25 PM

  • the NY Times continues it's absolutely shoddy reporting on the volcano disaster -- we're completely losing all respect for the NY Times -- maybe they've always been this bad and we never really paid attention

take this headline: "Congolese Refugees Head Home over Lava"

hold the press -- this just in -- they've updated the headline with an adjective now - a few hours later: "Warily, Residents Return to Lava-Scarred Congo City"

    who writes this drivel?

oh, ok -- everything is fine now, they're headed home -- turn the Green Bay game back on honey

home to fucking what? s'il vous plait

sorry, dictionary.com is still hung trying to translate it

how 'bout an impact picture depicting the reality of desperation instead of Brett Favre bummed out with the loss?

    how 'bout getting real

you know why this all is the way it is don't ya?

    money

    money and selfishness

there's nothing inherently wrong with money or capitalism or material secularism -- they're all just words anyway

selfishness is what turns it into the enemy Poindexter

  • here's the second principle:

    2) the law of karma - as you sow, so shall you reap - and it's a grim reap if you don't give more than you take

may there be Peace and Love
    8:40:45 AM

  • think on the karma of this:

2 jets take out the lives of 1000s of people from all nationalities in buildings which were the biggest symbols of capitalism in the world -- another one brings disaster to the biggest symbol of military might

in the big picture why did that happen?

because of the greed and selfishness and the violence to life itself that is brought on by the secular materialism that has become a cancer in every nation

and dogmatic religious -isms are worse

we're all going to suffer as One Family until we get this right

Bin and his boys are absolutely wrong to use violence as a means to make this point -- if they really have conviction they should resort to radical non-violent civil disobedience or a massive hunger strike or something along those lines -- something extreme enough to result in their death while sitting peacefully

no one has that kind of faith in this day and age -- we certainly don't yet -- all we do is write and talk about it -- a few Buddists did during the Vietnam war

to be a martyr and make a difference in our book you have to be willing to die for what you believe in -- alone for others to see -- without causing violence to another
    8:18:22 AM

  • the current news on Nyiragongo:

    eruptions may continue

a new cone two metres high is spewing lava six metres into the air -- lava is streaming down towards the Gomo's airport, which has massive reserves of jet fuel -- people are washing and cooking with the toxic waters of Lake Kivu, despite thousands of dead fish bobbing around on the surface -- experts are warning of an massive explosion risk caused by lava flowing into the lake with molten rock stirring up reserves of methane gas that lay dissolved in the lake

500,000+ are at risk of malnutrition and disease -- up to 100,000+ may be stranded between 2 lava flows -- there's no food or water and many are huddled along the shores of a big lake that could blow up at any minute

    it's a desperate situation

since this is all pretty much as it was yesterday, there will probably being even less about it today in the US media

and still - after 4 days now - not a peep from the US government

we've heard the bad news, nothing is worse today, how 'bout that Buffalo win in OT

    next

man we're setting ourselves up for some bad shit to come knocking at our door
    7:35:39 AM

  • the US didn't do much to stop 800,000+ Hutus and Tutsis from slaughtering each other and help the refugee situation created by that either

the mainstream media were lame then too

you know the law of karma -- what goes around comes around -- if we don't pitch in more at times like this the disasters are just going to get bigger and bigger and more and more horrific until we act differently
