Salon hosts Radio Weblogs! Scott Rosenberg, Salon's managing editor, has a new weblog, and it's very nice. I've known Scott for quite a few years, he wrote one of the first articles about weblogs, in May 1999. His weblog is edited with Radio UserLand, and that makes me proud. You can subscribe to Scott's weblog with Radio's news aggregator. Stay tuned for more Salon weblog links. [Scripting News]

Hosting Weblogs: A Serious Responsiblity

Hosting Weblogs: A Serious Responsiblity

Hosting is a serious responsibility. One is holding the creative musings and work of others on one's servers. In a school setting, the digital paper, may be a years worth of work by students and faculty. Kind of hard to say to a whole staff and student body, "Sorry, we lost all your digital paper". You can imagine the fallout on such news.

So either the educational institutions have the proper back-up equipment and safeguards in place or one uses a professional hosting service. The other is living with the unthinkable in the back of one's mind.
