King on the Cake?!
Yesterday I ate too many great cookies from a bakery in Los Gatos. Big, gooey, and delicious. The kind of cookies that require lots of ice-cold milk.
The bakery's label was on the bag. "King on the Cake" it said. What an odd name, I thought, but great cookies. Snarf, chew, gulp, chew, swig, yum!
This morning, the bag was still on the kitchen counter. I noticed the name again. "King on the Cake". What could that possibly mean? Why isn't there a crown logo or something related to royalty? Could the name be poorly translated from some other language? (Common here in California.)
Then I noticed the engraving on the now-empty cookie jar. (Yes, the cookies came in their own jar.) Ah-ha! There it clearly says "Icing on the Cake". Now that's a good name for a bakery! Mystery solved.
They don't have a silly name, just bad typography.
