Mark Bernstein comments regarding the practicality of making Tinderbox scriptable. He's right, of course, regarding the fragile nature of such an attempt in the free-form world of Tinderbox.

One of the strengths of Tinderbox, and why I'm not hesitating in trying different experiments with it, is that your data is not held prisoner. The file format is XML, so you can get to it, convert it, and re-use it in other applications. Of course it takes some effort to work with the XML, but the tools are getting better in that regard.

But I definitely agree that even a simple AppleScript dictionary would be useful for Tinderbox. Being able to munge the data files is handy, but for real-time interop with other apps you need scripting support. In a way, scriptability suffers from the same mental roadblock that Tinderbox itself can be subject to. Until you try it, live with it, you don't realize how useful and powerful it can be. Tinderbox is turning out to be a wonderful tinker-toy, giving it a brain via AppleScript would be a great addition.

Yeah, so AppleScript doesn't run on Windows. Like I care? :-)
