Murder Most Merry
Picked up this neat Christmas-themed murder mystery anthology at
Borderline Books earlier today. It has 32 stories from Ellery Queen
Mystery Magazine (et al) from a wide variety of contemporary and
classic authors.
Aside from the stories and unusual theme ("I Saw Mommy Murder Santa
Claus" - just one of the stories) I thought it was noteworthy for two
reasons. The price is only $10.99, and it is hard cover. When
paperbacks are nearly that price, that was a pleasant surprise.
But best of all, the production values of the book. Great cover art,
bright white paper (but a little light weight) and excellent typography
and page design. Darnit, I wish the book had a colophon, I haven't seen
a book that looked this good, in a classical sort of way, for a long
time.
