Nerdbooks, Redux
The unexamined life is not worth living, but the truths that you
discover about yourself are not easy to face. Case in point: On a
recent vacation to Lake Tahoe, I actually went out of my way to visit
Nerdbooks in Roseville,
California. Now it was only a mile or four, and it was a welcome break
from being in the car, but I do have to admit that being compelled to
stop at a programmer's bookshop is, well, a little geeky. OK, a lot
geeky. But the store truly is awesome and well worth a visit. If you
shop online for tech books (and who doesn't?) you should definitely
check them out.
Another self-reflection? Gale is awesome. She didn't mind me stopping
to shop for books on Ruby and CSS in the middle of our vacation. She
even walked our dog Scooter in the hot parking lot while I browsed the
stacks. Isn't that great? (And then Bruce, the friendly guy at the
store, welcomed both her and Scooter inside with a cold drink. Neato.)
