Keeping up with birthdays

It seems to me that computers are most often used to accomplish things that can't otherwise be done at all. Making panoramas or burning a DVD, for example. What I really love is when they can help make your life easier, particularly for human (social) things. Like keeping track of birthdays, anniversaries, and other repeating date events. The kind of thing that when you remember, gives you and others a warm feeling.

By far, the best app I've found for doing this on Mac OS X is Geburtstags Checker. I have it set up so Gale and I both share the same date list, so whenever either of us logs in we get reminded about upcoming important days. It is simple, elegant, and free. And the latest version works with Address Book to get dates and display a person's picture. You can even open up a new email to send off a greeting. Very cool, you should check it out.
