Not Rosie, but Roomba

The Jetsons, the most influential TV show of my youth, debuted 40 years ago. We're still waiting for most of the technology that George et al took for granted (damnit), but today I finally have a genuine robot housekeeper. I'm pissed that it took so damn long.

The Roomba is a robot vacuum cleaner that really works. No kidding. It's vacuuming an upstairs bedroom right now, while I'm relaxing on the couch and writing this. It picks up lots of dirt, isn't very noisy, and has an amazing algorithm for vacuuming the whole room. The first time you use it, you just stand and watch its fascinating pattern, navigation, and personality. (Yes, it has a little personality to it.) I suppose you could argue about the price, but how much did George pay for Rosie?
