Do they mean morally bankrupt? I am aghast that the Catholic Church would even consider letting an archdiocese declare bankruptcy in order to protect itself from lawsuits. That's a tactic you expect from a corporation, but not the One True Church As Established by Christ Himself. They're trying to play both sides of the fence here -- we're non-profit so don't tax us, yet let us hide assets behind loopholes in the law. The Pope should ask himself, "What Would Jesus Do?".
