A classic strawman
Let's ignore that conflict-of-interest inherent with MSNBC reviewing
iTunes and focus instead on their faulty logic. In this article
Gary Krakow compares AAC audio files to uncompressed AIFF audio. He
expresses shock over being able to hear a difference. As bugs would
say, "what a maroon". Not only is it an unfair comparison, it's the
wrong comparison. He should be listening to an MP3 against an AAC file.
His whole mostly-negative review hinges on this mistake, and I'd like
to believe he should know better.
And let's not even get into the straw man argument of costs. CDs don't
cost $9.99 each, at least not anything recorded in the last several
years.
