Levenger Three-Day Briefduffel
Overall, I'm pleased with the new Three-Day Briefduffel. However:
- The pictures clearly show the duffel
standing up and retaining its shape. The canvas material is far too
soft to support this -- the bag collapses onto itself from its own
weight and won't stand up. The inset photo showing the mouth is
actually deceptive, since it's impossible to get the bag to stand open
as shown.
- The brown nylon shoulder strap doesn't match the bag. It should
either be made of leather (like the strap fasteners) or canvas (like
the body of the bag). The nylon webbing strap seems like a cheap
afterthought addition. Given the amount of attention paid to other
details, it's a disappointment.
- The workmanship is excellent, and I really like the mouth closure
and how evenly the weight of the bag is distributed across all the of
the straps and fasteners.
At its introductory $99 price it is a good value. Given the strap and
my expectation that it be able to hold its shape (as shown in the
catalog) the list price is a bit too high.
