Last Loser Standing
Oh crap. I won't know which is worse. Admitting that I like Last Comic Standing or admitting that I'm disgusted Dat Phan actually won. Geez, there's no way he was funniest.
It occurs to me that the only thing this show really revealed is that most of the young comics (Tess, Jeff, Dat) don't have much depth in material. They had good auditions, but as more performances piled on the quality of the routines fell for these guys. Not a surprise, it takes years to build up more than a few minutes of killer material.

Hey, hey it's the monks
An interesting NY Times story on the science of facial expressions includes the following statement:
For one thing, I began studying Buddhist monks in my lab.
Funny, somehow my brain keeps wanting to see "monkeys" in that sentence, given the rest of the context. The lab study of monks just causes a tiny bit of cognitive dissonance for me.
