Ugh, this again? One would have thought that this had been figured out with the release of XP. The whole point of using hardware based activiation codes with no personal information is to avoid capturing personal information. The only other option that tries to address both the privacy and piracy angles is to have "neutral" third party activation code clearing houses, the question with such a solution is if you as a consumer really wants to pay for that type of service.
