Mozilla Thunderbird
Today I tried out Mozilla Thunderbird, a cross-platform email client from the makers of Firefox. I like the following things about it:

  • It's Crossplatform!

The more I use multiple platforms (OS X, Windows, and Linux) I really like apps that are cross-platform - same app, just different environment. Thunderbird fits that bill.

  • Mostly Sane Design

The design doesn't suck. That says a lot, to me anyway.

  • Wide-screen view

Like NetNewsWire, Thunderbird has a wide-screen view. This means there's a column for mailboxes on the left, a column for message headers in the center, and a column for message bodies on the right. I've never seen this in an email client, and I kind of like it

I (very much) doubt it will unseat my current email program (Mailsmith), but Thunderbird makes a good alternative to Apple's Mail
