From Robert Bruce Thompson: 1. I've now had several messages from subscribers who've installed W2K SP2 SRP1 (http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/critical/q311401/default.asp ). All confirm the problem I reported earlier. Installing SRP1 automatically installs the Outlook E-mail Security Update patch, which removes the ability of Outlook to handle executable file attachments. That's done in the interests of preventing virus infections, of course, but it also severely limits the functionality of Outlook for many users. For more information about what the Outlook E-mail Security Update patch does, see http://office.microsoft.com/Downloads/2000/Out2ksec.aspx 2. Microsoft has released a fix for at least some of the CD burning problems that occur under Windows XP. To download this fix, visit http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?ReleaseID4293 I have not used this fix, because I have not yet attempted to burn CDs under XP with the bundled CD burning application. 2:06:31 PM |
