This essay does a good job, I think, in stating the case for what I call the soulessness of corporate America. Everything has become about money so that noone stops to consider the effect of the actions corporations take. It's incredibly counter-productive because the people who are left have little motivation beyond preservation. A workforce of people only coming to work for the sake of not losing a job does not make up a leading company.

People have to start asking what is really going on here? Despite all the bad news about recession and economic problems, there are also companies who are making money and yet are firing people left and right.

I don't want to work for a company that settles for being just like all other companies. I want to work for a company that aspires to be greater. Unfortunately, I don't work for such a company today, and I am beginning to doubt that such a company even exists.
