During Saturday's non march, this idiot was doing his best to keep people penned in and creating a very unsafe situation. He was foring the steel fence closed that allowed free movement by us. He was a small man with a very small man power complex; something I call the clipboard and badge mentality. It was lucky for us and him that the crowd did not surge towards the front with any force as the gates would have kept us pinned and someone would have been hurt very seriously. Another case of NY's Finest doing its "duty".
Saw some of Tony Blair's news conference this morning. It looked as though he was running very scared of the crowd. I think that the size of the crowds and the number of cities that actively participated caught both Blair and Bush with their pants down. I think that Tony Blair was caught napping and his regime is in danger.
I like Colin Powell very much. I have always thought of him as the voice of honesty and reason among the liars and gunslingers of Bush and his cronies. I just wish he would take the high road and resign. If he did that I could see myself doing something that I have never done before; voting for a republican presidential candidate if he ran.
Watched part of the Tom Ridge, George Stephanopoulos love-in. Stephanopoulos asked Ridge about the supposed al-Quada cells in the US and why weren't they under arrest. Ridge told him that in spite of everything else we, the US, was still a country of laws and that due process was still paramount. Georgie boy did not pin Ridge's ears with the next logical question; what about the arrest, detention of the 1000s of Muslems since September 11th. Don't get on my case about this as I know of 10-20 people who have been taken from their homes early in the morning and have been held without charges and with minimum contact with their families. They have been beaten when they refused to eat port and one person I know will probably die or literally go crazy in detention. If he does not die in prison it will only because he will be released just before death so he can die outside of prison and not sully the record of the prison board.
