UPDATE ON FRED AND AURORA:
Ron, Fred is out but really in bad shape,
psychologically mainly. They were beat up by the
conditions and the stuff they went through. He was
released exactly 46 hours later and was only given
legal counsel on his last hour. He was charged with
disorderly misconduct and parading without a permit.
Of course he did none of those, he was working as a
reporter but nobody would hear him. he said he was
deeply humiliated, they moved them around in chains,
they did not get any food for the whole first night
(about 12 hours) etc...
I am writing a report with precise details of what he
has described to me, when i am done, it would be great
if you could post it on your log.
We are both completely drained and ever more
disillusioned about this country and its system. Fred
had to accept the charges he was given in order to
later not hinder his visa procedures. Basically he had
to bargain for his release for things he did not do.
As an ex lawyer, he feels completely deprived of his
dignity and his rights in a so called democratic
nation! I heard Bush talk about the most promising
form of government (the US) and it disgusts me more
than ever.
The media is only covering the situation talking about
protesters and showing the grungy types. What they
don't say is that in one of Fred's cells, out of 9
men, only one had been involved in an act of civil
disobedience. In the cell, one guy was a lawyer, one
was a by stander, fred a journalist etc... What the
f... is wrong?????!!!!!
Pardon my language but the fact is this was planned
and they needed to use the pier 57 that they had
prepared for the mass arrests.
There will be a major class action law suit. Fred may
not be able to sue because of his visa issues. What a
mess!
I want people to know that this is not a story, this
is happening a few blocks away from their homes, it
could have been them or their loved ones.
