"Act Accordingly. Dean gave me a copy of the following, although he didn't note where he got it (one of yesterday's newspapers?):
"Starting this month, four major credit card bureaus in the United States will be allowed to release credit information, mailing addresses, phone numbers and other information to anyone who requests it, according to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs.

If you do not want to be included in this release of your personal information, you can call (888) 567-8688. Once the message starts, you will want option 2, then option 3. Be sure to listen closely; the first option is only for a two-year period. Wait for the third option, which opts you out forever.

You should receive paperwork in the mail confirming your instructions less than one week after making the call." [The Shifted Librarian]
