Wherein we learn of Howard's mind Thanks to Steve Pilgrim for pointing out how to use images in Radio. And it's just as bad as I've feared. I love the sprightlyness of Radio and how I can easily publish the stuff to my own server. But I don't love the hit I've taken in usability. OK, before I bitch any more about Radio, I'll be a good boy and read through Russ Lipton's documentation. Then I'll probably bitch some more. So where do I report bugs in Radio? Shouldn't there be a link somewhere?
It worked! Mostly. One of the images didn't come across, but the other did. Go figure. I just added a trailing backslash to the path. Let's see what happens when I post.... To figure it out, check out: http://justenoughlinux.com. I figured it out! The backup works just fine, but I entered the backup path as N:websjustenoughlinux. I posted and then looked in that folder and nothing happened. I expected to find an index.html file, an images folder, and all of the rest of the stuff. I posted again. Not there. Maybe I missed something. Finally, I clicked on the webs folder and -- wait a minute -- there are a bunch of new folders in there: justenoughlinuximages, justenoughlinuxcategories, justenoughlinux2002. And (oddly enough) a file called justenoughlinuxindex.html. Huh? OH! When it generates the path, RU assumes that the path has a trailing delimiter (backslash) and simply appends the file and folder names to the end of the path, so instead of N:websjustenoughlinuxindex.html, it creates N:websjustenoughlinuxindex.html. I downloaded and installed the community server. It looks cool, but I'm still not sure exactly what it does. I'm testing the backup function. If this works, the site should be mirrored to a shared drive on my linux box. The upshot? That's the document root for the http://www.justenoughlinux.com domain. So if it works, I should be able to post directly (and speedily) to that website. Interesting.
