Howard's Musings
Wherein we learn of Howard's mind

Stephen den Beste continues to amaze with his work on USS Clueless. His latest mind-bender: the US is intentionally angering the Arabs:
And it will anger the Arabs, and in the long run that too will be valuable, especially in Saudi Arabia. The lines in this war are obvious to those who look at it with clear vision, and Saudi Arabia is ultimately the chief enemy. Through their export of extreme Wahhabism and their financial support for extremist Muslim organizations around the world, they are the key piece which has to be removed in order to truly achieve peace in the Mid-East. If making the Arab Street angry forces the house of Saud to definitively come out against us, which is already happening, it will make it politically much easier to bring about a "regime change" there.
We're well beyond the point where it's possible for us to just get along. We have long since gone past the point of no return; there's a war on and the only thing to do now is to fight it. 2:12:59 PM
Seattle Times: Debate rages over Issaquah High's Indian:
The mascot issue has often divided the Issaquah community in the past dozen years, most explosively in 1997. That's when Issaquah High School football players burned a Native American story pole as a pregame celebratory rite before they played the Sammamish High Totems.
As an alumnus of Issaquah High School, I remember thinking it offensive and stupid when I was there, but then I successfully forgot about it. If they don't change the name, I think we should follow Gregg Easterbrook's lead and call them the Sammamish Valley Indigenous Persons. 12:20:37 PM
I've updated the blogrolling links at the right. Do they appear now?
