I've been in the public eye for more than 18 years, in Europe and the US. I've enjoyed fame and recognition, which comes at a price. I've been interviewed -- by professional journalists, mind you -- half-dozens of times and not one phrase attributed to me inside quotation marks was a direct, word-for-word quote. Not one. Also, every time you link you're helping the Internet because search engines will adjust the page's rank accordingly. Over time, as you develop a community, more people will point to your blog, and your choice of links will have more weight. Professional journalist, writer, information junkie, opinionated swine, whatever. A weblog is a gift.
