Art Thiel: Selig's credibility the latest casualty

But not having a plan for the alleged "wild dream" [a tie] makes all Americans grateful that Selig is doing something fairly harmless, such as running baseball into the ground, instead of say, directing the ground troops around Kandahar:

"They're shooting at us? Why? This pains me. I'm a traditionalist. We have pragmatic differences, we have philosophical differences and we need to deal with those."

The absence of forethought gives the impression of a sport run out of the trunk of a '56 Buick on one of Selig's Milwaukee car lots. Can you imagine Paul Tagliabue or David Stern tossing up their hands on national TV while attempting to make policy on the fly?
