A flaw found in newer versions of the PHP Web server scripting language could allow attackers to crash, and in some cases control, computers over the Internet, an open-source developer group announced Monday. Yep.

Investors may have repudiated the Internet, they say, but consumers have not. What gall! These ungrateful consumers are using the Internet in ways they can't figure out how to make a huge profit on. It's un-American, I tell you! The Internet is not really different from the roads. Roads are not inherently profitable activities, but the benefits provided by the roads are tremendous. Christopher hits the nail on the head: It seems that the problem is that the business plans are not properly lined with up the way the net is used. Much as the cell phone industry destroyed the long distance busienss by combining (virtually) unlimited night and weekend calling with free long distance, so much of web content is free that sadly, perhaps that is becoming people's habit and expectation of the value of web material.
