Wherein we learn of Howard's mind Vacation NotesThe flight attendant informed us that airliners taxi on only one engine. I think he said it was always the left.* US Airways did a great job on our flight from Seattle. The plane's starter motor wouldn't broke, so they had to fly a repair crew up from SFO. They knew this ahead of time and -- get this -- called us at 4:30 am to inform us that our 7:30 flight would be at least 3 hours late and would we like to reroute through Charlotte or Philly? We decided to sleep a few extra hours and got off the ground at 10:45 on a nearly-empty A319. Nice way to cross the country. The flight home was more timely, but more cramped. * Yesterday, we got up early, did our final packing and at around 9:00am, we hit the beach. We spent a good 45 minutes jumping, riding, and diving through some pretty interesting waves. At 10 we got out, showered, wrung out our wet stuff, threw it in a plastic bag and into our luggage, loaded up the car, hugged, kissed, and drove 2 hours from Bethany Beach, DE to BWI airport. We ate, waited for our flight, flew to PIT, ate, waited for our flight, then flew to SEA, walked to baggage claim, found our bags and our ride and zoomed home. Phew. * I need to write about Hertz Neverlost system. Very interesting! * For the past 2.5 weeks, I have taken 2 showers a day; none of them inside. * I am a very lucky fellow.
