Unveiling of Memorial for INLA Volunteers Brendan Mc Namee and Miriam Daly
There will be unveiling of a memorial to fallen volunteers of the Irish National Liberation Army held in Andersontown, on the 22nd of June 2003. The memorial is the latest in a series of memorials dedicated over the course of the past year by the Belfast Memorial Committee of Teach na Failte, the organisation of ex-Irish Republican Socialist prisoners of war.

A travesty of justice
The decision on May 8 of the Dublin Special non-jury Court to convict one of the seven members of Republican Sinn Féin, whilst acquitting the other six on charges of IRA mem- bership, brought under the draconian Offences Against the State Act and based solely on the uncorroborat- ed 'opinion' of a 26-County Police Chief Superintend- ent, is a travesty of justice.

Crippling Critique

A recurring theme of articles in The Blanket is addressed to the repressive measures meted out to republicans critical of the Good Friday Agreement. The perpetrators as might otherwise be expected are not always the British who favour the agreement but those who subscribe to state republicanism. Since the agreement was signed in 1998 the list of republicans who have been threatened, intimidated, brutalised or killed has continued to grow.
