A basic analysis of wider governance can in part be judged on how it treats its most vulnerable citizen. So I believe - post Good Friday negotiations - such an interim analysis can be drawn from our political representatives and their representations within the assembly.

The Same Old Story

In July violence erupted once again on the streets. Groups consisting mainly of young men rioted day and night. The issue of contention a state backed sectarian procession unwelcome by the majority of people in the area. Consensus on the controversy impossible in an area entrenched by death and hate-led violence as a result of a diversity of allegiances.

Sometimes people like to ask the question 'what is to be done'? But before that question can even be answered we need to ask 'what have we done'? For eighty years we as republicans stated that the six county state could not work. That it was artificial having been formed and based ever since on sectarian division.
